Looking for an Amp
Looking for an amp now. I've had the Tech 21 Trademark for the past 12 yrs. Been looking into the Dr. Z Maz 18, PRS Sweet 16, Fuchs Lucky Seven, Bad Cat Mini Cat. All low wattage tube amps. I really liked the Dr. Z Maz with the LovePedal Purple Plexi 800 combination. This little stomp box made the amps scream! Then today I learned about the Line 6 Bogner Spider Valve MkII . This is an all-tube amp with a digital front end. Here is a secret. Gerry Ganaden who is George Lynch's Guitar Tech doubles up on "River Of Love" and for the heavier tunes like "Scary" and "Wicked," during some of the resent Lynch Mob gigs. Shiiii... using his Line 6 Spider Valve 2 x 12. A legend like George Lynch. A total guitar Wiz like him is OK with this whole concept of having a second guitarist in the back doubling over his playing, I guess this is something legends try to do to replicate the album. Steve Vai has a second guitarist and a 3rd Keyboard/Guitarist while performing live, but they are on stage. In this case, Gerry is behind the massive wall of Lynch Boxes, Marshalls, and Soldanos. Now back to the original topic. Here is the setting Gerry uses for Lynch type of tones. By the way this info is so amazing! Here it is. (going left to right on the front panel of controls) Put the amp model on metal on the red channel...gain about about 4-5...bass on 10, mid at 6, treble at 7, channel volume at 8...put the effected gain at the midway setting. This amp will give you the sound of a wide open "real" amp at lower volumes. The more info I obtain, the more I need to look into things. Still looking for an amp.
